Remembering Vietnam--PTSD Panel

Speakers will present different viewpoints on post traumatic stress disorder.

The Peter White Public Library invites the public to a panel on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, part of the Remember Vietnam series of events, in the library’s Community Room at 7:00 pm.

 

Although PTSD was not recognized as a medical disorder by the American Psychiatric Association until 1980, veterans of war have often suffered from it, just by different names:  shell shock in WWI, battle fatigue or combat stress reaction in WWII, and gross stress reaction in 1952.  In 1980, the diagnosis of PTSD was developed through studying Vietnam War veterans,
