Please note, this event has expired.
The City Commission acts as the legislative branch of city government. The City of Marquette elects seven commissioners during non-partisan, city-wide elections. Every year, the Commission elects one of its members to serve as mayor and one as mayor pro-tem. The Mayor Pro-Tem is authorized to act on behalf of the Mayor in the Mayor’s absence. Commissioners serve three year terms and may not serve more than two consecutive terms in office. The City Commission has the power to hire a city manager and city attorney, and to appoint citizens to serve on numerous advisory boards and commissions.View more
