Klava Klub--The Fifth Season

On Wednesday, June 17 at 7:00 pm, the Peter White Public Library will host a virtual meeting of its science fiction book group, Klava Klub, via Zoom, to discuss N.K. Jemisin’s The Fifth Season, the first book in her Broken Earth Trilogy.

The fifth season has come bringing death and destruction. Essun, an orogene—someone with the power to manipulate earth and stone—is grieving over the death of her son and the kidnapping of her daughter.  Damaya, a rogga, is given by her parents to Guardian Warrant Schaffa so that her orogenic skills can be used for good, not destruction.  Syenite, a powerful and ambitious orogene living in the Fulcrum is paired with Alabaster in the hopes that they can conceive a child with enough power to save the world from destruction.  Can anyone?
