A POV film showing the coming of age of 3 African American boys in rural Bertie County, NC.

DocuMonday presents a screening of the 2016 documentary Raising Bertie (96 min.) on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 7:00 pm in the Peter White Public Library Community Room as part of its Building Love:  Imagine series of events.

 

Raising Bertie is an intimate portrait of three African American boys as they face a precarious coming of age in rural Bertie County, North Carolina. Like many rural areas, Bertie County struggles with a dwindling economy, a declining population, and a high school graduation rate below the state average.
