James Baldwin’s final work, completed and brought to the screen

DocuMonday presents a screening of the 2016 documentary I Am Not Your Negro on Monday, August 7, 2017 at 7:00 pm in the Peter White Public Library Community Room.


In 1979, James Baldwin wrote a letter describing the state of race relations in his final project, Remember This House, covering the lives and assassinations of three of his friends:  Medgar Evers, Malcolm X, and Martin Luther King, Jr.  When Baldwin died in 1987, he had only completed 30 pages of his manuscript.  This documentary, narrated by Samuel L. Jackson and directed by Raoul Peck, completes the book that Baldwin never
