Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing

On Monday, February 26 at 7:00 pm, the Peter White Public Library is partnering with Northern Michigan University by showing Do the Right Thing in the library’s community room as a kickoff event for NMU’s Diversity Common Reader.

 

This 1989 classic film is set in a Brooklyn neighborhood on the hottest day of the year.  When one of the customers at a pizzeria complains that all the pictures on the walls are of Italian-Americans when most of the customers are black, violence breaks out revealing the hate and bigotry that has long been simmering.  Written and directed by Spike Lee and
