Pirates, Crooks and Killers: The Dark Side of Sailing the Great Lakes by Fred Stonehouse

Marquette Maritime Museum presents Pirates, Crooks and Killers: The Dark Side of Sailing the Great Lakes by Fred Stonehouse on Tuesday, December 12, 7:00 p.m., in the Shiras Room as the Peter White Public Library.
While the Great Lakes never had swashbuckling pirates like those who swept the Caribbean Seas, there were low-lifes willing to rob and pillage when the opportunity presented itself. Others were not above “moon cussing” or showing false lights to lure ships to wreck on inshore reefs where they pillaged the cargos and murdered the crews. Join the Marquette Maritime Museum for Fred’s presentation on a little-explored but fascinating aspect of Great Lakes maritime history.
